Teeth whitening services

A sparking white smile looks gorgeous and can be a great confidence booster.  The teeth whitening services that we offer here at Clinic 95 can be done in the clinic, (Zoom laser whitening) or by you at home (gel whitening).  For help and guidance on which system will suit you and your teeth best, have a chat with our hygienist.

In-clinic laser teeth whitening with the Philips Zoom system

We chose this whitening system as it's been designed to give the whitest teeth, in the safest, quickest way.

The whitening will be carried out by Ben, the Clinic 95 hygienist.  You will require two appointments at the clinic, and will need to continue your treatment at home for a few days afterwards.

At the first appointment:

We'll take impressions of your teeth so a personalised tray can be made in a lab, that'll fit your teeth perfectly.  Also at this appointment, you'll sign your whitening consent form, and have your teeth photographed, so you can compare before and after images.  Two weeks later the fitted trays come back from the lab, in time for your second appointment.

At the second appointment:

Firstly, Ben will cover your gums, lips and surrounding skin, so that only your teeth are exposed to the laser light.

He will then apply the whitening gel which is specifically formulated to work with the laser light to gently penetrate the top surface layers of the teeth to remove stains and discolouration.

That Zoom LED light is shone onto the teeth to activate the chemical application, speeding up the reaction of the whitening product.

The gel will be applied in four fifteen minute sessions for a total time of 60 minutes, removing and cleaning your teeth after each 15 minute cycle. This extra step allows Ben to closely monitor the colour of your teeth.

Once the four sessions have been completed, your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned of all the remaining gel.

Following your treatment, Ben will then show you how to use the trays that have been made for you.  When used with a whitening gel for a minimum of three days immediately after your main treatment, they will help you to complete the whitening process at home.

At-home gel teeth whitening with Poladay Gel

Want to get a hygienist's opinion on how to get white cheaply?  (And get some good advice on how NOT to do it?)

Ben offers his top teeth whiteing tips in this special article.

If you'd prefer a more gradual whitening process, then a system that you use daily at home is perfect for you.  It'll give you brighter, whiter teeth in around two weeks.

For this process, you'll need a total of three appointments with our hygienist Ben.

The first appointment will be for impressions of your teeth to be taken, so that our lab can make the trays that will be a perfect fit for your mouth.  At this appointment, you'll also sign your consent form and can have a photograph taken so you can compare your teeth before and after treatment.

Two weeks later, your trays will be ready.  Your second appointment with Ben is when he will first check that the trays fit perfectly, and will then demonstrate how to apply the gel.  It's quite simple:-

  1. Place a small drop of the spearmint gel into every compartment of the tray for the teeth undergoing treatment
  2. Seat the tray with the gel around the teeth.
  3. Wipe away excess gel in the mouth with a tissue or dry soft brush.
  4. After treatment, remove tray. Rinse tray and mouth with lukewarm water.

The 6% hydrogen peroxide gel is recommended for use for either of the following sessions per day:

  • 1 x 45 minutes per day
  • 1 or 2 x 30 minutes per day

After a week or two of daily treatment, you'll come back in to meet with Ben and review your progress.

Following the initial process, gels are available at any time to take home to top up the whitening levels using your trays in exactly the same way.

How long do teeth stay white for after whitening treatment?

This depends on the type of teeth you have and also the type of diet you eat.  While there's not much you can do to change the type of teeth you have, you can take care with your diet to ensure that you aren't bombarding your newly whitened teeth with foods and drinks that cause staining.  Red wine, black tea, coffee, and turmeric are some of the worst offenders.  And also, of course, smoking can and will stain your teeth, so if you want to keep your pearly white smile, now would be a great time to kick the habit.

You can top up the your whitening treatment in approximately 18 to 24 months as necessary.
